Batleys cash & carry has made a series of changes to its board and senior management. The main change is the promotion of associate director Ian Dyson to buying and marketing director. Dyson will now be responsible for three departments: two buying groups, managed by David Boocock and David Clarkson, and the marketing department headed up by former senior buyer David Sabin. Martin Race, regional controller (Yorkshire and north east) has been promoted to operations director, and regional controller (north west and Scotland) Alan Brown also becomes a director. Paul Woodthorpe, regional controller for the Midlands and south, takes on the additional areas of Sheffield and Doncaster, and Mike Bailey takes over control of the north and Scotland. NESTLé UK FOOD DIVISION CHIEF Nestlé has appointed Petraea Heynike as md of its UK food division following Rob Murray's promotion to regional head of operations in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands. Heynike formerly worked for Nestlé in the US where he was president of its culinary division. ACQUISITIVE TYPES Stephen Alexander is new group chief executive for Europe at management and investment firm C Dean Metropoulos & Co. Together with private investor Hicks Muse Tate & Furst, the company has bought companies such as Hillsdown Holdings and is negotiating a sale with United Biscuits. Alexander, previously chief executive of Allied Domecq's retailing group, will be managing the Hillsdown businesses and working on other European acquisitions. John Nichols is now chief executive of Premier International Foods, previously the grocery arm of Hillsdown Holdings. Nichols, who was previously responsible for canning and preserves at Hillsdown, will report to Alexander. BOLSTERING ORGANICS Organic grocery supplier Meridian Foods has promoted sales and marketing director Peter Otto to managing director. He takes on the role as Meridian gears up to build its presence in the organics sector though investment in new capacity. DEVELOPING WITH THE MULTIPLES Scott Hardie is new business development manager for ambient products at Patak's. He will be dealing primarily with Sainsbury, Iceland and Asda to boost the company's 17.5% market share of the Indian food sector. Hardie, who has 15 years' experience in the grocery sector, joins Patak's from biscuit manufacturer Gray Dunn. {{INSIDE BACK COVER }}
