Danone Waters is scrapping its Volvic Revive Citrus Kick variant less than a year after launch following poor sales.

The water giant said that despite "relatively strong trial at launch", the repeat rate of Citrus Kick was "lower than its benchmarks for long-term success".

However, Steve Flanagan, grocery customer marketing controller, insisted there were no plans to axe the other variant, Berry Blast. "We have decided to focus 100% on this product, which has proved an extremely strong SKU," he said.

Volvic Revive was launched in April 2007 as direct competition to the likes of energy brands such as GSK's Lucozade.
