Scottish Courage operations director Robin Alexander, aged 52, is to take early retirement at the end of April for personal reasons.
Alexander joined Scottish & Newcastle in 1978 from ICI and has held a variety of positions, including managing director for Scottish Courage Brands, a post he took up in 1995.
He was appointed to his current post in December 2001.
Alexander will be replaced by managing director for the on-trade Stephen Glancey after a handover period. Glancey joined Scottish & Newcastle in 1992, having been a chartered accountant at Ernst & Young. He has held several senior financial positions, becoming finance director for the on-trade in October 2000. He took his present post in May last year.
