Sainsbury’s has made personalised offers available via its tills

Sainsbury’s is rolling out personalised pricing to its tills, in the latest expansion of its Nectar loyalty programme.

From 25 July, Sainsbury’s shoppers will be able to access up to 10 personalised offers at the checkout each week.

Sainsbury’s currently offers Your Nectar Prices via its app, SmartShop and website, which Nectar members can download before they spend. Now, they will be able to redeem personalised offers when paying at “any Sainsbury’s supermarket checkout” if they scan their Nectar app, in the same way they would do to receive universal Nectar Price discounts.

The AI-generated offers – which are based on the items they purchase most frequently, or new recommendations based on their shopping basket – will refresh each Friday. They will be available alongside regular Nectar Prices.

“Over the past few years, we’ve made significant strides with Nectar, with Nectar Prices being a big part of that success, bringing great value to millions of customers,” said Mark Given, Sainsbury’s chief marketing, data and sustainability officer.

“But what really sets us apart is that we’re leading the way by making loyalty personal. Shoppers want to feel recognised and rewarded and while Nectar Prices are for everyone, we know our customers love an offer that is made just for them. That’s exactly what Your Nectar Prices delivers – it’s about giving customers those extra savings on the products they love and buy most.

“Every week over a million customers are making the most of their personalised discounts and, by rolling this out to our checkouts, we’re opening the door for millions more to grab fantastic offers on the items they already purchase and maybe even discover some new favourites,” he added.

Sainsbury’s has been expanding the personalisation of its Nectar loyalty scheme

Sainsbury’s first launched Your Nectar Prices on its app in 2021. Since launching universal Nectar Prices in 2023, it has been slowing ramping up the level of personalisation offered to loyalty members in order to feed its growing Nectar 360 data arm. Your Nectar Prices were rolled out online in October 2023.

More than 17 billion personalised discounts had been redeemed by shoppers since Your Nectar Price launched, Sainsbury’s said.
