The top ten branded products table shows Bisto and Sharwood's offering a range of cooking sauces.

When looking at overall activity for cooking sauces, including pasta sauces, there has been a marked increase.

Bisto's range of sauces found in Somerfield stores included Cumberland sausage & onion, Classic chicken & tomato and Country vegetable chicken 500g, all using the buy-one-get-one-free mechanic.

Knorr Sizzle & Stir sauces, also in Somerfield and using buy-one-get-one-free, included sweet & sour, tikka masala and korma.

Sharwood's cooking sauce range was featured in more than one retailer, with x for y offers in Asda on its Curry/Indian sauces and using buy-one-get-one-free in Morrisons for its Chinese, Thai and Indian sauces.

Patak's Regional and Curry sauces 425/540g were on promotion in Sainsbury's using the save mechanic with offers equating to a half-price saving, while Dolmio had x for y ­offers on its pasta sauces 500g/750g in Asda and Morrisons.

Asda had also allocated featured space for the Loyd Grossman sauce range 425g with an x for y offer, ­Napolina pasta sauces 335g/1kg using the save mechanic, and Uncle Ben's sauces from Around the World range using the x for y mechanic.Sainsbury's has continued its prominent promotions for Organic Fortnight with its So Organic range and Grove Fresh Organic Juice, with the only other retailer to have an organic presence in the featured space aisles being Tesco.

Tesco allocated space to organic produce using save, including organic new potatoes, gala apples, sweetheart cabbage and baby plum tomatoes. The only branded organic product captured in promotional space, also in Tesco, was Clipper organic freeze dried fair trade Coffee 100g featuring the save mechanic.

Other brands worth a mention are Tropicana's Go Juice using x for y and save, and Rustlers, including its new tikka naan, with half-price offers on its range down to 94p.
