Flavoured water brand Sip is making the switch from chiller to freezer with the launch of what it claims is the first natural ice lolly with beauty benefits.

LicketySip sorbet-style ice lollies contain skin-friendly ingredients such as rose petal extract and antioxidants, including Vitamin C and selenium, tapping into the growing market for food and drink with cosmeceutical benefits.

With an rsp of £3.99 for multipack of four 70ml lollies and £1.39 if sold separately, it is being showcased at Food & Drink Expo in Birmingham in April. It is flavoured and sweetened only with fruit extracts, contains no preservatives and comes in mango, lemon, and blackcurrant.

Sip was launched in the UK in May last year with a range of four drinks - mango, elderflower, ginger & lemongrass, and strawberry & mint.

It is available in Waitrose, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Eat.

While the company is yet to confirm listings for its new lollies, it hopes they will be available in similar outlets in time for summer.

Marketing for the new brand will include the strapline 'One Lick and It's Love'.

"We launched Sip drinks because there was a gap in the market for a feminine drink that was good for you and the same applies for LicketySip," said company founder Kate Cazenove.

"Many of the products out in the market contain artificial colours and flavours but many mums and teenagers want to buy an ice lolly that is natural and good for them. Our lollies are as light as fresh sorbet and refresh the palate without the clingy-sweet aftertaste you usually get with ice lollies."

More products are expected from the company in the near future, Cazenove added. "We want to extend the Sip brand as quickly as possible and take it as far as we can in the premium sector."
