Subway has appointed three new regional presidents to accelerate growth, help drive franchise profitability and elevate the guest experience.
The sandwich giant has named Tracy Gehlan as its new president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). She brings more than 25 years of experience leading franchise operations, including in QSR, to the role.
Gehlan previously held senior positions at QSR brands including as CEO of Smashburger, and EMEA VP and COO at Burger King.
She was also previously senior VP EMEA and international COO at Hertz Global Holdings, and most recently held the position of international president at Driven Brands, where she led expansion and a profit and loss turnaround across 13 countries.
Gehlan sits on the board of Americana Restaurants International, the largest out-of-home dining and QSR operator in the Middle East.
Damien Harmon, who brings more than two decades of operations, retail and customer experience to Subway, has been appointed president of North America. He most recently served as senior executive VP of customer, channel experiences and enterprise services at US electronics retailer Best Buy.
Meanwhile, Artemio Garza has been named president of Latin America and Caribbean (LAC). He brings nearly two decades of experience in franchising, QSR and multi-unit retail across Latin America and North America to the role.
Prior to joining Subway, Garza served as chief growth officer at Renuity and previously held the role of senior marketing director for Burger King in Latin America.
“We’ve brought together a group of strong, experienced leaders who believe in Subway’s vision and are committed to partnering with our franchisees and employees to take this brand to the next level,” said Subway CEO Jonathan Fitzpatrick.
“They know operations, they understand the guest experience, and I’m confident they’ll help us deliver strong business results and being new energy to Subway.”
Fitzpatrick was appointed as Subway CEO just last month. He brings more than two decades of franchising and QSR experience to the role and previously served in a range of senior leadership positions at Burger King, including executive VP and chief brand & operations officer.
