A ready meal brand that collects sustainability metrics from source farms to calculate the emissions of its entire product range, and shares the results via an on-pack QR code, has secured a listing with Tesco.
The Wild Hare said the launch in Tesco stores and online marked “a major milestone in the brand’s mission to put soil-first farming and great-tasting meals on more British plates”.
The brand’s data platform – Wild Chain – tracks and verifies farm-level sustainability metrics including overgrazing, days animals spend outside, hedgerow biodiversity and CO2 emissions, and combines them with supply chain data to run environmental and carbon footprint assessments. This allowed the brand to “offer unprecedented transparency from farm to fork” it said.
The range – which is cooked fresh every week using produce from high-welfare British farms – now in Tesco includes an Organic Beef Bourguignon with “carbon-friendly beans”, an MSC-certified Fish Pie and a Fully Organic Dahl.
“We’re thrilled to launch Wild Hare meals in Tesco, backed by the data-driven transparency of Wild Chain,” said Dominie Fearn, founder of The Wild Hare.
“Consumers deserve to know the story behind their food – where it comes from, how it was produced, and the impact it has. With Wild Chain, we’re not just offering delicious, chef-made meals – we’re setting a new standard for integrity and sustainability in ready-to-eat,” she added.
The Tesco listing marks the brand’s first major mult supermarket listing, having listed with Ocado since 2022 and several specialist retailers.
