Tilda Rizazz
From: Tilda
The new look, and extended, Rizazz microwaveable rice range from Tilda comes three years after the initial launch of the product and is aimed at building brand awareness and standout in the rice aisle.
Price: £1.29 per 250g pouch
Total score: 32/50
Consumer's verdict:
Marie Jones, Nurse, 42, Banbury, Oxfordshire
As I am a bit of a lazy cook, I always look for quick and convenient accompaniments for meals.
I was quite excited to trial Tilda’s extended and improved Rizazz range as I am already a fan of the brand and eat rice, rather than potatoes, with most of my meals.
I liked the bright packaging, it is very appealing, and I feel certain I would notice the range on-shelf. With a £1.29 price tag per 250g pouch, I also think the range has a reasonable price.
However, taste-wise the products did not quite live up to my expectations. I found the varieties I tasted to be a bit dry and lacking flavour. Still, adding a bit of salt and pepper made a big difference and seemed to bring out the flavours.
I probably would buy the products again because of their convenience factor.
Score: 15/25
Buyer's verdict:
Jonathon Bayne, technical development controller, budgens
Two varieties of the new range arrived for me to assess, an Indian style as well as a Chinese option.
The packaging was quite striking in colour and will stand out well on-shelf in our stores.
The cooking instructions were simple and straightforward, with the product ready to eat in less than five minutes.
Out of the two varieties, I personally preferred the Indian style, which had a nice taste to it.
I was not very impressed with the Chinese option as I found it to be excessively oily and it gave an unpleasant mouth feel.
This is a well-suited product for those consumers who are cash-rich but time-poor. With the support of the Tilda brand, the range should quickly establish itself in the marketplace.
Score: 17/25
