I liked the packaging. The labels were small, smart and simple. Other than the colour of the whiskey, the packaging suggest a malt whiskey.
Unfortunately, very poor quality whiskey is often disguised in expensive-looking packaging so I assumed I was about to try 'cooking' whiskey.
However, when I tasted the product I was very pleasantly surprised to find Ballydoyle lived up to the packaging.
I found Ballydoyle to be smoother than its main competitors and for this reason alone I prefer it. Without water, I didn’t get hiccups as I would expect with a Scotch.
Now I have tried it, I would buy it again. I think it represents good value for money and I would not hesitate recommending it to friends.Score: 22/25

Ballydoyle Irish whiskey is distilled by Cooley’s, the only Irish-owned whiskey distillery close to the Northern Ireland border in County Louth.
It will be sold in the UK by Halewood Vintners who sell several successful brands including Lambrini and Red Square.
Whiskey is not my favourite drink but Ballydoyle is a very smooth-tasting whiskey with a pleasant warming finish, and with the rsp expected to be around £11.49-£11.99, will compete very favourably against other Irish whiskeys such as Jameson’s.
The presentation of the bottle is good and will stand out on shelf. With the right support from Halewood, I think Ballydoyle could become a successful brand.
