Independent food-to-go manufacturer Tiffin has acquired fellow Bradford business Love Bites, just four months after snapping up Scottish sandwich maker PJ’s Foods.
Taking on all 30 of Love Bites’ staff, the £55m-turnover Tiffin has committed to investing “significantly” in the company’s 10,000 sq ft factory, based just six miles away in the north end of Bradford.
“Our focus will be on upgrading machinery and infrastructure,” said Tiffin MD Mark Salisbury.
“We recognise the importance of retaining the dedicated staff at Love Bites, and are committed to providing them with continued employment and growth opportunities within our organisation.”
Founded in 1991 by husband-and-wife team Richard and Gill Smith, Love Bites supplies wedge sandwiches, heat-to-eat baked goods, wraps, rolls, pizzas and salads, as well as supplying catering platters and extended-life goods for vending customers.
Richard Smith has joined Tiffin under the deal, which was completed on 13 August.
“Richard and Gill Smith have been instrumental in building Love Bites, and Richard will continue with the Tiffin business, offering his invaluable industry experience to guide our future success,” Salisbury said.
“The potential for growth and expansion in the coming years is significant, and we look forward to collaborating with the exceptional team at Love Bites,” he added.
The acquisition follows hot on the heels of Tiffin’s April 2025 expansion into Scotland, through the purchase of Glasgow-based PJ’s Foods.
In business for nearly three decades, PJ’s Foods employs 85 staff, producing around 90,000 products a week catering to universities, schools, the NHS, and event spaces throughout Scotland.
