Redefine Meat has launched an “upgraded” Flank Steak to bring “amped-up flavour, richer aroma, juicier bite, and ‘beefier’ texture”.
The Israeli meat alternative brand said the Steak (rsp: £7.97/200g), developed with the help of chefs and “meat experts”, was designed to replicate the “mouthfeel of real beef steak”.
It contains 25g of protein, 4.4g of fibre and just 0.9g of saturated fat per 100g. It also contains no preservatives.
The steak has been made with the Redefine Meat’s ‘New-Meat’, which the company said required up to 98% less land, 96% less water, and emitted 91% less greenhouse gas compared with “mass-produced beef”.
Simon Owen, Redefine Meat’s VP EMEA, said the steak set a “new benchmark in plant-based steak”.
“Evolved through years of refinement and chef feedback, it delivers a rich, juicy, meat-like experience so convincing that most people won’t believe it isn’t beef,” he added.
“Given the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’ve received so far from our chef and retail partners, we believe we’ve created something genuinely different that will bring more chefs and consumers to the New-Meat era.”
The SKU also comes in updated single thermoform packaging, which has reduced plastic use by over 60%
The updated flank steak will appear in-store and online at Ocado and Asda in the coming weeks.
