Caron Howe MD, More Foods

I was introduced to Don three years ago by a mutual friend. He had been working for a large bakery in Portsmouth and was looking for a change, and I was on a mission to find somebody with experience to take us up a gear, and grow what was then a very small cake-making business into something much bigger. From the minute Don walked into my kitchen I knew he was the man for the job. He was so enthusiastic about everything - particularly my cakes.

We complement each other brilliantly - I get all these grandiose ideas about different cakes and tray-bake products that I want to make, and his skill is to turn them into an achievable reality. He also helps to keep me grounded. But it can get quite fiery sometimes.

Don Tyrrel Works manager, More Foods

I have always worked for quite big bakery companies, so joining More Foods was a strange experience at first. My main frustration is the lack of funds. We are sometimes limited in terms of what we can achieve because so much has been invested in the premises and equipment.

It can be extremely challenging work, but I relish it. We are one big family and we are all learning together. Caron's strength is definitely her imagination. She dreams up some of the most amazing recipes and it's my job to say whether they will work or not - her weakness is not listening to me when I say no! But we bounce ideas off each other and always manage to come up with some kind of a workable solution in the end.
