Woods Foodservice has partnered exclusively with premium butcher HG Walter to launch a fresh butchery offer. 

It marks the first time the distributor has entered into the fresh meat category and builds on the launch of its fresh produce division in 2022. 

The collaboration will see Woods offering premium cumberland, chipolata and country-style sausages, as well as streaky bacon and premium burgers, with the ambition to expand the range into fresh cuts in the near future. 

The move comes as demand for high-quality British meat products has surged among Woods’ customer base in the past 12 months. New research from Red Tractor also showed 90% of Brits want to see more food produced in the UK.

“HG Walter is one of the UK’s most respected butchers, supplying some of the country's best chefs,” said Woods Foodservice CEO Darren Labbett. 

“This partnership means our customers can procure the finest produce in one place, saving time and effort through our seamless online ordering platform. It’s a huge evolution for the business.”

HG Walter MD Adam Heanen added: “The two businesses are an obvious fit in terms of values and customer base, and this is something we’ve been keen to do for a while.”
