Woolworth says it plans to open 400 General Store outlets across the country within five years up from an initial target of 350. But the company has admitted that initial openings in the capital have been stymied by problems getting Superdrug pharmacy licences. It wanted to open eight stores by the end of this year, but is now likely to have only four up and running. A spokesman said the difficulties had been resolved and the chain's fourth outlet would open immediately. The stores already open are in Balham, Palmers Green and Muswell Hill. Each offers a pharmacy, health and beauty products, general merchandise and convenience food.
