A tale of sacrifice and violence in a dystopian future doesn’t really sound like Barbie territory. Nonetheless, Mattel is releasing a Barbie based on Katniss Everdeen, the heroine of blockbuster teen movie The Hunger Games.

The doll wears the character’s hooded jacket, T-shirt, cargo pants and boots, and is packing a bow and quiver of arrows.

Aimed primarily at adult collectors, The Hunger Games Barbie will go on sale in August (rsp: £39.99).
