Bogof was pleased to receive, through his letterbox, a flyer for his local convenience chain, One Stop, this week.

In the run-up to the festive season it promised visitors a range of bogofs and other offers. "Would you believe it!" screamed the flyer, non-grammatically. "Basic groceries at supermarket prices!"

Well, in answer to this rhetorical question, yes, actually, I would. For as eagle-eyed readers will have spotted, One Stop is owned by, er, Tesco.

The flyer, of course, kept schtum about this, noting only that the HQ was based in faraway Walsall, but it did add, in a footnote, "prices checked on the Asda website".
