Ocado used its Christmas preview to show off its new destination websites - Fetch.co.uk and Sizzle.co.uk. To reach the food and drink, journalists first had to work their way through the non-food selection. It was a cut above typical supermarket non-food fare, or even the selection on Ocado.com. For cutting the Christmas turkey, Sizzle.co.uk had a Global carving knife and fork for £94.99 and £104 respectively.

And to keep your pet happy over the festive season, Fetch.co.uk had a Rosewood Christmas jumper for dogs (£8.99) and a vinyl Christmas pudding for playing (£2.49).

Turning to the food selection, some of the highlights included unusual examples of fusion cooking such as Laverstoke sausages that tasted of mince pies (£6, 400g). But there was also plenty to please traditionalists including a 1kg side of salmon (£24) and an Eversfield hamper of Christmas meat essentials, including sausages, beef and gammon joints, for £82. And for those with a sweet tooth, Ocado has a Prestat Christmas bauble packed with London Gin Truffles.

Star: The Laverstoke Christmas Pudding Sausages

Verdict: Plenty on show that customers would fail to find at any other supermarket, but not for those preparing for a spend-thrift Christmas.
