Accolade Wines has named John Ratcliffe its new global CEO

Accolade Wines has appointed ex-Oddbins chief John Ratcliffe as its new global CEO.

Ratcliffe fills the vacancy created when Troy Christiansen left the company last November. He will join the company on 3 February and will be based in the company’s key markets, spending time travelling between the UK and Australia.

Following his time as commercial director of Oddbins, Ratcliffe became a consultant and has spent the last 11 years providing operational and strategic expertise to multinationals, financial institutions, distributors, retailers and brand owners. He became a key advisor to Accolade following its acquisition by Champ Private Equity and has worked closely with the board.

He said the wine business had momentum and potential and he was delighted to be leading the management team.

Champ PE MD John Haddock praised Ratcliffe’s innovation and entrepreneurship and said the appointment completed the senior management team. This has been through a number of changes since being bought by Champ; the most recent appointment was in July, when Stephen Gorst joined as chief operating and financial officer.
