The Food and Drink Federation has appointed Barbara Gallani to head its Biscuit, Cake, Chocolate and Confectionery (BCCC) sector group.

Most of the Biscuit,

Cake, Chocolate and Confectionery Association's activities were transferred to the FDF at the start of the year. Gallani joins on 20 February and will be directing and developing policies, as well as providing a link between the new group and broader FDF activities.

Gallani is currently food policy executive at the British Retail Consortium, representing retailers on food safety issues, novel foods and technologies.

She has seven years experience in the industry and has worked at the Food Standards Agency and the European Consumers' Organisation in Brussels.

"Under Gallani's direction this new group will allow FDF to speak with even greater authority on topics at the heart of this important sector," said Melanie Leech, FDF director general.
