What's your nickname? Riddles. I like to think it's derived from my surname, not my presentation style.

Who was your first teenage crush and why? Derek. He was tall, blond and worked in a record shop - when you're 14 there is nothing better.

What was the first music single you bought? Patti Smith's Because the Night - my rock phase residual influence from crush on Derek.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? Changed frequently - an astronaut, then someone who dug up dinosaurs, followed by anything to do with volcanoes. Yes - nerd tendencies.

What has been your most embarrassing moment? Putting a motorcycle helmet on backwards while trying to impress the very good looking bloke who was giving me a lift.

What's your favourite chat up line? I've always wanted to hear "Get your coat luv, you've pulled," said seriously.

If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be and why? René Carayol (of BBC2's Pay Off Your Mortgage In Two Years fame). His focus and clarity is inspirational and the opportunities to learn would be amazing.

Who would you most like to sit next to on a plane? Sir David Attenborough. His career has spanned everything from BBC bigwig to sharing screens with gorillas. Obviously it would have to be long-haul.

What would you request as your final meal? I would have to try Fugu (puffer fish) - even if it was incorrectly prepared I wouldn't have long to regret it.

What's your favourite junk food? Chips. This is a rare treat as my argument that potatoes count as one of my 5-a-day doesn't go down well at home.

What's the weirdest thing you've eaten? Pig's ear. My family is from Galicia in the north west of Spain and the traditional cuisine really does maximise an animal.

What luxury would you have on your desert island? Selfridges.

If you could star in a television programme, what would it be and why? Channel 4's Green Wing - the characters are hilarious and I would get to meet Michelle Rodriguez, who is my favourite actress.
