What's your favourite restaurant? A small country restaurant near Uttoxeter. The Head Chef owns it and has a passion for top-grade food.

Do you prefer healthy food or junk food? I like to think I now eat far more healthily.

Have you ever sent back a meal? That was more than 20 years ago in Corfu when I was served grossly undercooked chicken.

What is your favourite meal? I am fortunate in having a wife that cooks very well and the answer to this has to be a traditional Sunday lamb roast.

What's your favourite tipple? I'm not a big drinker but appreciate a good lager more than anything else.

What would you rescue from your house if it was burning down? A prize collection of mini video cassettes of early family life with our two children - irreplaceable.

What's your fantasy car... and what do you actually drive? I drive a Mercedes E Class, but an Aston Martin Vantage would be my favourite.

What are you reading at the moment? Another one of Ken Blanchard's management theory books.

What's the most embarrassing moment of your professional life? I was invited to an evening function with an international cuisine theme and was told fancy dress was obligatory. I turned up as a French onion seller only to find out a black tie would have been more appropriate!

Pet hates? A sloppy, don't care attitude and a willingness to give up far too easily.

What's the best holiday you've had? The Maldives.

Do you prefer rugby, football or cricket? Football.

What's your motto for life? Play hard and work hard. I believe you get out of life what you put in.
