What's it like to work for your company? Good fun and hard work!

Why is it a good employer? Because we're a family business we work very closely with our team.

What's the best thing about working there? Living and working in Helston means we can enjoy a good work/life balance. The people are enthusiastic.

Does the company offer any unusual benefits? Not many companies have such free access to so much ice cream!

How does the company differ from its rivals? As a business we've always had to be creative, resourceful and forward-looking, and that attitude is shared by staff in all streams of the business, which makes them a pleasure to work with and for our suppliers and customers to do business with.

Is there a definable company culture? As a family business we aren't very 'corporate' in the traditional sense, and know all our staff personally. All that ice cream has made us friendly, relaxed and open-minded.

If the company were a car what would it be and why? An electric-powered, top-of-the range Massey Ferguson tractor practical and environmentally friendly. I'm not sure such a machine actually exists, though!

What's the training like and what qualifications can I earn? At Roskilly's we're less about qualifications and much more about skills. Because the business has so many strands there's lots of opportunity to 'upskill' and learn something new.

Has the company won any awards or been recognised in the past few years as an employer? We don't enter any formal awards, but because we work so closely with our staff we have a good idea of any problems (or successes!) that crop up.

Are you looking for any people right now and, if so, where? As the business grows we're keeping an eye out for enthusiastic staff, so it's worth sending a speculative CV if there's a part of the business you think you could develop.

How does one go about applying for a job? By email, to start with admin@roskillys.co.uk.

What tips would you offer jobseekers? Work hard and get lots of work experience. Even if you don't think it's relevant, it'll still teach you skills.

How do I find out more about the company? The first port of call would be our website, which has lots of information about the business(es) and relevant contact details.

Are you, or is the company, working on anything exciting right now that you can tell us about? We've just launched a range of chocolate-coated fudge, including dark chocolate-coated praline, white chocolate-coated coconut & cherry and milk chocolate-coated stem ginger. We're also developing a range of organic clotted cream toffee, so keep an eye out!
