Sales: £55m
HQ: South East London
Number of employees: 150

What's it like to work for your company? It's like having dinner with your friends, eating and talking about great food, every day. Apart from that, some days it is a breeze, but mostly it is very hard work, but we love it and want to do it more.

Why is it a good employer? Everyone always wants to be at the table, eating all their greens, with no-one asking to be excused early. There is a real feeling that we are all in it together, whether you are a store man or the director of sales and marketing.

What's the best thing about working there? Being set in such a glamorous location in London, we are often found in the nearby boulangerie or kaiseki bar [commonly known as the Ilderton Café]. Working with food all day also means I have to cycle to and from home to keep me nice and slim.

Does the company offer any unusual benefits? Aside from the obvious free tea and coffee, we love to have our chefs cook for the staff each month. We can also buy all of our 2,000+ food products at cost.

How does the company differ from its rivals? We are obsessed with great-tasting and unique food. We are focused on true product innovation whether for retailers, fine dining restaurants, contract caterers, gastro pubs or even large food manufacturers.

Is there a definable company culture? Food, food and more food! Also you need to be slightly mad to work here

What's the training like and what qualifications can I earn? Every employee has a personal development plan that encompasses both on-the-job, in-house and external training. It has to be fun, though, not that boring lecturing style.

Has the company won any awards? We recently gained ISO 22000 accreditation.

What's your proudest achievement of the past 12 months? Relaunching Merchant Gourmet from a brand used by Margo from the Good Life to a brand used by cooks everyday. I have also restructured our sales, marketing and NPD functions to form one team, which is now delivering results.

Are you looking for any people right now? We have recently been through a large recruitment drive to match our current growth. As a result, we are not looking for any specific roles to be filled. However, given our rapid growth in the past 18 months, we would foresee opportunities arising through 2011 into 2012.

How does one go about applying for a job? Send in your CV and a compelling reason for me to meet you.

What tips would you offer jobseekers? Work harder. Become better. Total focus.

Is the company working on anything exciting right now? You don't call us the food innovators for nothing. Think umami. Think blue skies. Think outside the box. We've got all that rolled into one, sliced. Watch this space.
