William Reed Business Media, the publisher of The Grocer, has launched an eLearning website to make it easier and simpler for businesses to train their staff.

The site, https://www.appetitelearning.com, is accredited by City & Guilds and is endorsed by leading William Reed titles, including The Grocer.

It is the latest addition to the burgeoning elearning training market, which generates estimated annual revenues of £60m. The overall training market is worth an estimated £300m.

The site offers a range of courses, including level 1, 2 and 3 awards in food safety for catering, manufacturing and retail, as well as supervising and health & safety. It is aimed at small and medium-sized companies within the food and drink sector looking for a cost-effective way to build the skills of their workforce. Because the training is web-based, companies can choose when their staff take the course to minimise disruption.

Courses are also competitively priced. A typical level 2 course that could cost up to £80 elsewhere is just £29. And the more courses a company buys, the lower the cost.

“Appetite Learning is a cost-effective solution for simple, hassle-free food hygiene certification,” said Benn Wood, eLearning account manager at William Reed Business Media.

“With courses built specifically around the industry, and accredited by City & Guilds, there is no better way to maintain compliance.”

One chilled foods supplier added: “Trying to organise groups of people to get together on the same day and fit in with our trainer was increasingly difficult. This approach has saved me days of time and the results are great.”
