Mars Petcare has expanded its dog treats offering with Pedigree Puppy Tasty Bites.

Available in chicken flavour, the NPD of bite-sized cubes designed for puppies has been launched initially with a promotional price of £1.50 (125g). It joins the Pedigree Tasty Bites portfolio that comprises Cheesy Nibbles, Chewy Slices, Chewy Cubes and Crunchy Pockets.

Total petfood sales including treats are up 3.3% to £2.5bn [Kantar 52 w/e 19 July 2016], while treats alone have seen growth of £32m, split equally between cat and dog.

“Treats are fast becoming the number one must-stock item for all retailers, unlocking greater basket spend and encouraging those all-important impulse purchases,” said George Hillman, senior brand manager at Pedigree.

“Pedigree Puppy Tasty Bites provide puppy owners with the perfect product to treat and reward their new arrivals, helping owners bond and train their puppies.”
