Akashi-Tai Sake Brewery is tapping growing enthusiasm for Japanese drinks with the launch of its plum-based sake.

The Japanese company will present Shiraume Umeshu, rsp £11.99, to British retailers for listings this week . The spirit is made by preserving Japanese ume plums in sake and has an abv of 15%.

"We have seen increased demand for Japanese drinks, sparked by the Japanese restaurant scene," said a spokeswoman. " Consumers are keen to experiment at home, especially with cocktails."
