Why: Ready meals are on the up and up, having added an impressive £151.1m in value [Kantar 52 w/e 8 November 2015], and vegetarian options are enjoying increased popularity. This product is part of a frozen Tesco Healthy Living range that also includes Wholegrain Fusilli with Spinach & Cheese Sauce, Lime & Coriander Quinoa Mix, and Indian Style Superfood Mix.
Consumer verdict: The pack design failed to stand out for some consumers, but the convenience of a resealable bag was a bonus - and many were impressed after tasting the dish, with a maximum score of 50 achieved in the North. Those in the South were less impressed, expressing concerns about the ‘bland’ nature of the dish. Many testers appreciated the health credentials - and a significant proportion of those who said they would consider purchase would do so at least fortnightly.
