Budgens has pumped up its forecourts and will have opened another three before the end of the first quarter.

It opened Stadhampton, in Oxfordshire on 12 February. Kingsclere, Hampshire, will open later this month and Wellington, Somerset, in mid-March to take the total of forecourts to 41.

The new forecourcourt in Stadhampton is a site that has undergone a full rebuild and refit project to create a new 2,335 sq ft shop, owned by new retail partner Mohammed Farooq.

Kingsclere, a redevelopment of a closed forecourt, will be 2,500 sq ft, and owned by John Mason, of Peregrine Retail.

Wellington will be retail partner John Mason’s second new forecourt, encompassing a 2,660 sq ft store and a Subway concession. Mason also operates Budgens in BlackHorse, Blashford and Bridgwater.

The new stores will stock an extensive range of products from essentials and food-on-the-go options to a more complete offering which reflects the brand’s key shopper “missions” – a strong lunch offering, top-up shop and meal for tonight. They will also include a good fresh range alongside affordable local artisan products.

Mike Baker, Budgens brand director said: “Our forecourt business is performing really well and we’ve got the balance between convenience and interesting just right.”
