Princes red salmon, Tilda rice and the ubiquitous Stella Artois all featured off-shelf as well as in their categories in the week ending 30 October, thanks to a number of high profile promotions.

This week the x for y promotional mechanic was particularly prevalent. Princes red salmon 213g was available in Asda using this tool to encourage purchase while Tilda's Rizazz rice 250g was on offer in Morrisons using this same mechanic.

In beers Stella Artois' 20x284ml packs were on offer in Sainsbury's using x for y while in the health category Head & Shoulders 400ml shampoo was to be found in both Morrisons and Sainsbury's with this type of promotion.

In the chilled category, the top promoted products include a 10-pack of Herta frankfurters.
