One of the world’s largest brewers, SABMiller, has announced it has acquired a further 39.8% of Birra Peroni that it does not already own, giving it a total of 99.8% of the company.
SABMiller bought 60% of the company, which is the second largest brewer in Italy, back in May 2003.
Birra Peroni’s brands include Peroni, the number one beer brad in Italy, and Nastro Azzuro, the number three brand in the premium segment. In the year to 31 March 2004, Birra Peroni grew its volumes in line with the overall market at about 6%.
