The search for the country’s best – and greenest – specialist food and drink retailers is under way.

This year’s Farm Shop & Deli Show Retailer Awards will recognise businesses undertaking sustainable initiatives while also supporting their customers, communities and suppliers.

Sustainability is a key concern for specialist retailers as waste reduction, recycling and energy efficiency can have financial, as well as environmental, benefits. No matter how large or small a business’s green activity has been, or what financial investment has been made, if it demonstrated innovation and sustainability, then judges will want to hear about it.

Entries and nominations are welcome until Friday 25 February, with finalists from nine regions to be announced early in April. The winners will be revealed live from the Farm Shop & Deli Show at NEC Birmingham on 25 April.

As well as providing an excellent hook for marketing activity and promotion, winning a Farm Shop & Deli Show Retailer Award can be a great morale booster for staff.

“With these awards we want to celebrate those retailers whose incredible spirit and entrepreneurial mindset has shone through,” said Andrew Reed, MD of events & exhibitions at Farm Shop & Deli Show organiser William Reed, publisher of The Grocer.

“If you are, or know, a retailer who deserves recognition for creating a better world through sustainable initiatives, no matter how small those steps may be, we want to hear from you,” he added

The Farm Shop & Deli Show is part of the The UK Food & Drink Shows event taking place at NEC Birmingham from 25 to 27 April. Uniting four shows under one roof, it covers the complete supply chain in three days of insight, innovation and inspiration, with the content of each show tailored to meet the requirements of its respective audience.
