M&S has installed a food-to-go vending machine at its Simply Food store at Cherwell Valley services.

The dispenser stocks key food-to-go lines such as sandwiches, cold drinks, crisps and snacks as well as chilled ready meals.

It was introduced last week and is due to be trialled at another location yet to be decided by the retailer.

This is the first time M&S has sold food-to-go items in this way.

Both stock and hygiene will be maintained “throughout the day” with regular cleaning carried out, an M&S spokesman told The Grocer. Customers will also be prompted to use the antibacterial hand gel provided next to the vending machine with a message on the dispenser’s screen before using it.

“We are always looking for new ways to offer our delicious, great-quality range of M&S products to customers in convenient locations,” the spokesman added.
