It’s been a big week for Sainsbury’s with the Paralympics. How has your store been celebrating? At Sainsbury’s our values really do make us di erent and sponsoring the Paralympics was de nitely the right thing to do. We have a Paralympics medal table in the store, which we are updating every day, and the customers comment on it a lot. There’s also a real buzz among my colleagues and nine of them had a fantastic day out at the basketball on Monday as part of ‘Turn The Park Orange’.

It’s also the rst week of the new school term. How have back to school products been selling? Absolutely fantastically! Uniforms have sold tremendously well. We have created more space than we have ever done before for the range because that’s what customers have asked for, and it’s been tremendous.

Our mystery shopper was impressed by the customer service in your store - how do you encourage this? We make sure we go the extra mile for our customers. I’ve got a cheery bunch of colleagues and we train and retrain so that we always o er the best service. Overall, Sainsbury’s is more passionate about customer service than ever before. There is a real vibe about Sainsbury’s at the moment, with continuous quarters of growth.

Is this growth re ected at your store? Yes, we are having a good year. We have refreshed a number of areas in the store such as general merchandise and clothing. We have also introduced fresh pizzas and a wine fridge because there is big demand for chilled wines. We also added an extra drinks fridge for the lunchtime trade.

And have you got any changes planned over the next few months? We have done so much in the last few months refreshing areas of the store that it’s now all about building on that and o ering great service and availability for our customers, and getting ready for Christmas.
