KFC’s supply woes continue as the company becomes a target for rivals on social media

A clutch of food industry players have sought to capitalise on KFC’s problems this week since the fast food chain fell foul of its new distributors.

Hundreds of restaurants remain shut following the disastrous switch from Bidvest Logistics to DHL and Quick Service Logistics.

On Twitter, Iceland highlighted that it had extended its online exclusive offer of a Family Feast for ‘only £10’. The offer comprises chicken strips, wings, popsters (40 pieces), potato wedges, criss cross fries, garlic bread, mini corn cobs, coleslaw and beans, including free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream worth £4.20.

‘Oi @KFC_UKI, we can deliver this in time for tomorrow’ it tweeted.

Meat-free brand Quorn offered to supply KFC with its Crispy Nuggets.

It tweeted: ‘Hi @KFC_UKI, we hear you’re having a bit of a chicken shortage - let us know if we can share some Quorn Crispy Nuggets for a meat-free alternative for your customers! #QuornCrispyNuggets #KFCCrisis’.

Simply Good Food TV offered up a “KFC-style chicken” recipe by TV chef and food writer Peter Sidwell which included “a great BBQ sauce, too”.

Mick Rix, GMB national organiser, tweeted that KFC’s executives ‘should be going back to Bidvest on bended knee asking them to take back the work’.
