A new Swedish super-premium vodka inspired by nuclear engineering design will make its world debut in the UK market.

DQ vodka, which is made by the Nordic Spirit Company, comes in litre bottles designed to resemble plutonium rods. It has an rsp of £50 and is being rolled out now in high-end retailers and the on-trade.

As the spirit is poured it is drawn through a central shaft and out through a nozzle in the centre of the lid, which enables oxygen to get into the vodka. The process was akin to letting a wine breathe, claimed distributor Pol Roger.

The vokda’s launch will be supported by press ads in style magazines later in the year. “The campaign will centre around events that give both pleasure and hardship in life such as the birth of your first child or witnessing a thunderstorm,” said Pol Roger Portfolio MD Nick James.
