Zapper lets shoppers pay using their smartphone and access digital vouchers

Henderson Group’s IT software company, Henderson Technology, has integrated the Zapper mobile payments app into EDGEPoS, the Northern Irish Spar wholesaler’s electronic point of sale software.

Zapper enables shoppers to pay for purchases using their smartphone. It also gives them access to digital vouchers and competitions.

Customers scan a QR code at the till, which facilitates payment, voucher redemption and loyalty card updates in a few seconds.

Andrew Davis, who owns Spar in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, piloted the Zapper App for the group. He said offering Zapper had allowed him to give his customers the personal touch.

“We can send targeted messages and promotions directly to our customers to encourage repeat business and reward our top customers,” he said.

Zapper had also digitised all of the stores’ loyalty cards into one app, and at the same time given it a tool “to see our customers’ trends in shopping”, Davis added.

Darren Nickels, head of Henderson Technology, said that integrating Zapper with EDGEPoS had allowed Spar retailers to offer a three-in-one secure app, facilitating mobile payment, rewards and in-app targeted marketing.

“Zapper is also fully integrated into our EDGEPoS self-checkout, allowing the customer a speedy transaction while being rewarded for shopping in-store,” he said.

Zapper is also available in Nisa, Premier, Londis, Best-one, Costcutter and Family Shopper stores.

The app is free to download from Android, iOS and Windows app stores.
