Tesco has restructured its operations in Turkey, with three directors appointed to run three newly defined regions of the country.

The Aegean and Mediterranean region is to be headed by COO Richard Baker, promoted from his position as operations director, a post he took up in 2006. Merih Boz has been appointed regional MD for the Marmara region. He joined Tesco Kipa in 1998 from Carrefour. The Anatolian region is to be headed by regional MD Suat Demirel, who joined the company from Johnson Diversey.

"The new structure will help us to better understand our customers and deliver what they want more quickly," said Bob Robbins, Tesco CEO for central and eastern Europe. "It will support our growth plans and manage the geographical challenges of the country, which is three times the size of the UK."
