Fine foods distributor Petty, Wood is entering new territory by introducing a range of low-carb foods into Tesco.
The new offerings, branded JC’s Kitchen, are being developed and manufactured by UK-based Natural Balance Foods and exclusively distributed in the UK by Petty, Wood, which also boasts Duchy Originals, Sacla’, Patak’s and Amoy in its portfolio.
The range, which is on-shelf in Tesco from January 3, will initially include six products - Hazelnut Crunch Cereal (rsp: £2.99-£3.35 for 250g), Tomato & Herb Clusters (89p-99p for a 60g bag), British Toffees (£1.29-£1.49 for 100g), two ambient Indian microwaveable meals (£2.99-£3.49) and a milk chocolate bar (£2.99-£3.99 for 3x40g).
Giles Reynolds, group brand manager at Petty, Wood, said more products would be added during 2005 and predicted sales would reach “several million” in the first year. “Come January, low-carb will be the number one preferred diet,” said Reynolds.
