Warburtons is launching a 600g loaf for the first time, breaking with centuries of tradition. A change in the law dating back to the Magna Carta means bread can now be sold in quantities other than the standard 400g and 800g weights.
The move also prompted Tesco to launch a 300g loaf for single people, 600g for small families and a massive 1kg ‘weekender’ loaf for big families. The new mid-sized loaves will be available from the middle of next month. The 600g range will comprise Wholegrain Goodness, All in One Medium and All in One Thick.
