Sales have slumped again at Thorntons in a dismal first-quarter performance. The confectioner said group sales were down 7.6% to 46.5m in the 14 weeks to 1 October.
New Thorntons boss Jonathan Hart has vowed to rekindle the spark in chocolate by overhauling the chocolatier's flagging retail business.
The former Caff Nero MD joined Thorntons last month to restore momentum to its high street arm.
Thorntons has reported a decline in half-year profits, blaming the harsh winter weather for hitting sales. Pre-tax profits fell 8.5% to 8.3m for the 28 weeks ended 8 January, down from 9.1m for the previous year.
