Congratulations! Why did you think you won? We’ve got an excellent team here. They are superb and that makes my job a lot easier. There was an ‘Oscar night’ for our region recently, which stretches from Birkenhead and Rhyl down to Bridgnorth, and we won two awards – Best New Talent and the Long Service award.

Sainsbury’s has some real momentum behind it at the moment. Do you think this has rubbed off on your store and staff? Momentum is a really good word for it. My store has a lot of long-standing sta who have been with Sainsbury’s through the bad times and the good and are really proud of our continuing success.

What’s the reaction been like to Brand Match in your store? It has been really positive. It’s all about developing the perception to customers that they can get good value at Sainsbury’s, and it has been good at getting that message across.

Is your store ready for all the big events coming up this summer? It is going to be an eventpacked summer for us. We’re right behind the Paralympics and we’ve got our own ambassador for our region – table tennis player Scott Robertson. The Jubilee ts perfectly with Sainsbury’s customers and Euro 2012 will be great the further England go!

And which one are you most excited about? All of them! But from a business point of view, the Jubilee because we know when it is going to happen, unlike the Euros and the Olympics when it will be down to the performance of the athletes. If the weather is poor, people will stay inside, but if it’s good, we’ll have a fantastic weekend.

What changes have you got planned for your store? We have been granted planning permission for an 18,000 sq extension to the store. This isn’t on the immediate horizon though. I’d also like to make changes to online, general merchandise and the food counters.
