The seeded crust of these Birds Eye fillets was the brand’s first attempt at coating its famous fish in anything other than breadcrumbs and batter. It was a bold move, but one that paid off, according to our judges.

A “great piece of innovation” that genuinely brought something new to the category, they said. It tasted “superb” too, with the combination of linseeds and sunflower seeds adding satisfying texture and flavour – as well as a fantastic visual finish – and cleverly tapping on-trend interest in seeds’ nutritional credentials. The generous coating of crust paired with fleshy white fish garnered plenty of compliments too. “I had to go back for a second portion,” said one judge, who enjoyed the “lovely combination of textures” achieved by the crust.

Clear communication of the recipe’s nutrient punch also impressed, with the combination of the fish and coating of seeds helping to support immune health with the inclusion of vitamin B12, selenium and copper.
