The Grocer’s New Product Awards 2022: Vegan Frozen Foods

Winner – The Vegetarian Butcher Happy Go Clucky

Launched in March 2022 as part of The Vegetarian Butcher’s new frozen range, Happy Go Clucky “delivered on its promise” of a plant-based burger that was juicy and tender on the inside, and crispy on the outside. “An outstanding product that tastes fantastic” and provides a great match to a traditional chicken burger, said judges. Not only does it closely replicate a meat-based burger, but the soy-based patty carries some of the same nutritional benefits, having been fortified with vitamin B12 and iron.

Complemented with “great branding”, this is “everything you would want from a plant-based chicken burger”, praised judges, and versatile enough to be used in a sandwich, wrap or as part of a salad. The launch also builds on existing success in hospitality, with the same patty available to be purchased in Burger King as part of the Vegan Chicken Royale.
