Since when is a basket of shopping 66% cheaper at Waitrose than at Asda? When you discover a glitch in Asda’s 10% Price Guarantee.

Those mischievous Money Saving Experts have struck again, this time using a 38p pot of rice pudding (among other ‘triggers’) to manipulate outrageous bargains from Asda’s apparently impregnable website.

Asda has insisted this is a “small glitch”. But it’s been taking hits for at least three weeks now, since MSE’s army of fans started exploiting it, suggesting there is not an easy fix.

And while Asda says only a fraction of its 18 million weekly shoppers are taking advantage, the shelves had been emptied of the offending rice pudding at The Grocer’s local Asda this week. One wonders whether by staff or by crafty customers?

Either way, if executives at Premier Foods are wondering why sales of Ambrosia rice pudding in Asda stores were one minute spiking, and the next minute falling off a cliff, this ‘glitch’ will provide the answer. Now, Asda must be hoping for answers of its own. Or they’ll have more than rice pudding on their faces.
