David Potts

CEO, Morrisons

Last ranked: -

Appointed on 25 February last year, Potts didn’t waste much time flexing his muscles when he gave five senior directors their marching orders within a month of arriving in Bradford.

Potts has spent his first year pulling back from some of the decisions of the Dalton Philips era to focus on the core supermarket estate. This included selling off M Local, ending the costly tie-up with Ant & Dec and ditching the misty veg. He also closed 30 stores. His efforts were rewarded last month when Morrisons delivered its first positive trading figures for four years. Potts hopes to build on that with price cuts on 1,000 lines from this week.
