Landmark's van sales initiative Landmark Direct has been "temporarily put to rest" to allow the group to focus on other activities, the company has revealed. The service was launched last summer to enable suppliers to target Landmark's retail customers with exclusive offers and products not available in the cash and carries. The aim was to roll the service out nationally by the end of the year. However, after sporadic activity in Scotland and the West Midlands last autumn, the service fizzled out as ranges were rationalised and manufacturers found it hard to sustain a dedicated national operation. "The concept was a sound one, and the infrastructure is there if we want to ramp it up again," said a spokesman. "But it's been on the backburner as the delivered side of the business has developed and we are taking more products direct to store anyway. "To a certain extent it has been superseded by Landmarkuk.com." {{NEWS }}
