Norman Bell, group strategy director for the Big Food Group, will be leaving the company next month to join the building merchant and home improvement supplier Travis Perkins.
In his role at the Big Food Group, Bell was responsible for all corporate transactions, regulatory matters and property.
Prior to this, he spent 10 years with Somerfield in a number of senior director roles including business development director, managing director of a group division and finance and logistics director.
He was also operations director at DIY group Wickes before it was acquired by Focus.
Bell will take up the role of managing director for Travis Perkins south west division, replacing John Frost, who has been promoted to managing director of City Plumbing Supplies.
