Leading UK asparagus grower Bomfords has announced the acquisition of Gerber Fresh Produce.
Mark Haynes, sales and marketing director with Warwickshire based Bomfords, said the deal was struck at the beginning of June following several months of negotiations.
He said the integration of both companies' resources would strengthen their position and allow growth in the areas of legumes, exotic vegetables, asparagus, brassicas, salads, fruits and organics.
Haynes said he was unable to reveal any figures at present, but said that the deal would create a number of synergies which could be exploited.
