Richard Burrows, joint director general of drinks group Pernod Ricard, has decided to call it a day after a 35-year career in the drinks industry.
Burrows, who has been joint director general of Pernod Ricard since July 2000, said that he will retire in early 2006.
After joining Irish Distillers Group in 1971, Burrows rose to hold the positions of general manager and chief executive of Irish Distillers and MD of Old Bushmills Distillery, which was sold to Diageo in June this year.
In 1991, three years after Irish Distillers
became a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard, Burrows became chairman and chief executive of Irish Distillers Group.
After his retirement, the management of the group will be carried out by Pernod Ricard’s chairman and CEO Patrick Ricard and joint director general
